I know everyone bangs on about Kitchen Aids but really for half the price the sunbeam mix master is fantastic, and it comes in different colours and it is built to last.

MY mother has had hers for 45 years.

I have a nice red one and use it weekly

Injera
Sensible answer. Women must be lucky in that respect (ie shoes fit them), I always seem to need fractional fittings which no longer exist, so the shoes either fall off or pinch. And why is there so little choice for size 10 anyway. (to give males the opportunity like me to buy the first pair that vaguely fit without costing megabucks?)
Wot do women do with shoes that have been worn more than twice? I remember flatting with 2 women millions of years ago b4 marriage and their cupboards literally overflowed with shoes.
That's a lot of therapy!

@Daniel - thanks for the suggestion! Don't know whether I can crank the wallet open that far, particularly when we still need those stairs... Will keep an eye out, though.

@Jess - I'm worried that hitting the shops might consolidate the aversion rather than cure it, particularly if you go out on a day like today. It was hideous out there! If I hadn't needed to go to the market I'd have stayed indoors for sure. I've found 10am to be a good time for calm(ish) shops, and for the non-clothes/shoes items, I'd go online.

Must be close to starting for you, now?

@sourkraut - Mrs S is clearly a believer in maintaining the feminine mystique, and good on her! Just thinking aloud, but perhaps shoes have become such a coveted fashion item for women is that they tend to always fit whereas clothes shopping can be a horrid experience if there's a little bit more or less of you than there once was.

My favourite line from Black Rain was Andy Garcia's detective saying "The ladies of the 80s are going for shoes". He was talking about men's shoes...

Another thing Mrs Kraut won't tell me.........What is a woman's infatuation with shoes???????????????????????????????????????????????/// To me they are something you wear (preferably cheap as chips brothel sneakers (slip-ons)) to stop your feet getting cut to shreds by the broken bottles left over on the footpaths from the Gen-Yers drunken brawls or used needles.

This post just reminds me that I need to go shopping!! I've been procrastinating for ages because I don't want to go shopping, but I have to. My phone died, my iPod's earphones died, I don't have enough clothes, I'm down to approximately one useful pair of shoes, I need to buy $600 worth of books for uni (ugh)...

...but I really hate shopping.

Perhaps I need retail therapy to "cure" my aversion to shopping.

A proper electric mixer.

Get a KitchenAid. Just keep your eye out for sales. I got mine at Minimax in Camberwell when they had one of their sales. But even at full price, you won't regret buying one. Oh, and the red coloured ones look sensational.
